Hiring Surges in December Paving a Path to Growth in 2025

Tech Unemployment Rate Drops to 2% as Hiring Surges

The technology sector saw an impressive boost in hiring, pushing the tech unemployment rate down to just 2% in December, the lowest level since November 2023. CompTIA, a leading organization in IT training and certification, highlighted these positive trends in its latest analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) #JobsReport data.

On a national scale, unemployment fell to 4.086%, marking the lowest rate since June. The U.S. economy added an astounding 256,000 jobs in December, far exceeding analyst predictions of 153,000. This underscores the resilience and strength of the broader labor market.

The tech industry contributed to this momentum, with a net gain of 7,000 positions in tech-related roles across the economy. This brings the core tech workforce to nearly 6.5 million professionals, showcasing the sector’s vital role in powering innovation and growth.

Tech Job Postings Showcase Demand Across Roles and Experience Levels

In December, employers posted 434,415 active job openings for tech positions, with 165,189 of those being newly added during the month. Although these figures were slightly down from November, the demand for skilled professionals remains strong in areas such as software development, IT project management, cybersecurity, data science, and technical support.

A Positive Outlook for Tech and Beyond

The sustained strength of the tech labor market, alongside significant national job growth, highlights the importance of technology in driving economic progress. As the industry continues to adapt and expand, opportunities abound for professionals eager to shape the future of innovation.
